Sodium hypochlorite, commonly known as bleach, is most frequently used as a disinfecting agent. It is a broad-spectrum disinfectant that is effective for the disinfection of viruses, bacteria, fungi, and mycobacterium.
• Appearance : Colourless to pale yellow liquid
• Active chlorine content : 5-10%
• Free Alkali (as NAOH) (g/l) : min 5 (for 5% solution) min 10 for (10% solution)
• In view of the ongoing Covid-19 Virus , GOI has recommended the usage of dilute sodium hypochlorite for disinfecting public places like buses , hospitals , restaurants , local streets , offices , construction sites etc .
• It is also used as a powerful bleaching agent in the pulp & paper and textile fibres.
• Another important property of sodium hypochlorite is that is it used as an oxidizing agent , a property much exploited in various chemical reactions .
FOR OPEN SPACES , DILUTE :-
-10 litre 5% sodium hypochlorite solution in 50 litre water.
-10 litre 10% sodium hypochlorite solution in 100 litre water.
Note:-
As per the guidlines of the GOI , Bharti Group doesnt recommend
using sodium hypochlorite on "humans" .
Avoid contact with eyes, skin & clothing. It should be stored in cool, dark & covered place. To avoid decomposition it should not be allowed to come in contact with acids & other chemicals.
